The Shots Between The Shots; Why The In-Between Moments Are Our Favorites

Here's something we don't think gets said enough in the wedding photography world... the most beautiful photo from your wedding day probably won't be the one where everything was perfectly arranged.

It'll be something that happened in between.

The two of you walking from one location to the next, laughing at something nobody else heard. A quick kiss that wasn't planned. The way you lean into each other without even thinking about it... because that's just what you do. Those moments, the unscripted, unposed, in-between ones, are where your real chemistry lives. And they're the photos that will genuinely take your breath away ten years from now.

We know what you're thinking. "That sounds great... but we're kind of awkward."

Good. Awkward is actually our favorite thing to work with.

Here's the truth about posed portraits... we keep them simple on purpose. A gentle prompt, go for a walk, talk to each other, look at each other, and then we get out of your way. Here's what we've noticed after photographing couple after couple... every single person does those simple things in their own way. The way you tilt your head toward theirs. The specific laugh that comes out when they say something only you would find funny. The way your hands find each other without either of you thinking about it.

That's not something we create. That's something we catch.

And that's exactly why we're not heavy handed with posing. Here's the thing... everyone deserves at least one photo where they feel like an absolute knockout. We bring that. The strong, editorial, stop-you-in-your-tracks portraits are absolutely part of what we do; they're just not the whole story. The goal is to show what it actually looks like when you two are together... the chemistry, the comfort, the little private world the two of you have built. That stuff can't be faked, and we'd never want to fake it.

What we will say is this... the couples who get the most out of their photos are the ones who show up as themselves. Not a polished, performative version of themselves... just them. Nervous, excited, a little chaotic, head over heels in love. You don't have to bring anything except the real you and the real love you have for this person.

Every love looks a little different... and honestly, if every couple felt the same we'd have stopped doing this a long time ago. It's the differences, the quirks, the specific and unrepeatable way you two exist together. That's what makes this work matter.

So don't worry about being photogenic. Don't worry about knowing what to do with your hands. Don't worry about being awkward...
