For the Couple Who Hates Being Photographed — This One's For You
You're already dreading it, aren't you?
Not the wedding. Not even the photos themselves, really. Just that part of the day where someone points a camera at you and suddenly you don't know what to do with your hands, your face, or your entire body.
We see you. And we want you to know... that feeling is more common than you think. We hear it from almost every couple we work with. "We're not really photo people." "I always look weird in pictures." "Can we just keep it short?"
Here's the thing though. The couples who say that? They end up being our favorites to photograph; because they're not performing. They're just being themselves... and that's exactly what makes a photo worth keeping.
Here's how we approach it:
We're not here to manufacture moments. We're not going to ask you to gaze lovingly at each other on a bridge while we crouch in a weird angle. We're going to talk to you, make you laugh, maybe embarrass you a little... and we're going to capture what actually happens when two people who love each other are just together.
Yes, we'll do some portraits. A few posed shots, because they're beautiful and your grandmother will want one for her wall. But we keep it short, we keep it fun; and we give you direction that actually makes sense instead of just telling you to "look natural"... which, let's be honest, is the least natural instruction anyone has ever given.
The goal is simple: at the end of your wedding day, we want you to look at your photos and think that's us. Not a prettier, stiffer, more performative version of you. Just you... laughing, crying, sneaking a bite of cake, holding hands during the vows.
That's the story we want to tell.
If that sounds like what you're looking for, we'd love to hear from you.
We'd love to chat with you about your plans for your wedding day, so let's get coffee (or tea... and possibly cookies...) and discuss the big day!
