If you're planning a wedding in Greensboro and want a venue that handles nearly everything under one roof — ceremony, reception, overnight accommodations, catering, florals, and getting-ready suites — Proximity Hotel is in a category of its own. An AAA Four Diamond boutique hotel and the first facility in the hospitality industry to receive LEED Platinum certification, it brings a level of design intentionality and service quality that is simply not available at a standard event venue.
What makes Proximity exceptional for wedding photography is the quality of its natural light. Floor-to-ceiling windows. Twelve-foot ceilings. Operable windows that blur the line between interior and exterior. A dramatic spiral staircase in the Social Lobby. Views of the Bluebell Garden and 2.5 acres of natural habitat. The hotel was designed as a showcase of sustainable modern architecture — and that design produces photographs that feel bright, open, and genuinely upscale without any additional setup or decoration.
With five distinct event spaces ranging from the intimate Latham Room to the grand Weaver Room, Proximity accommodates weddings from 20 to 200 guests and offers full-weekend takeover experiences where the entire hotel becomes the backdrop for your celebration.

All event spaces at Proximity include tables, chairs, linens, house floral centerpieces, votive candles, china, a dance floor, cake cutting, setup, breakdown, and event staff — eliminating the need for additional rentals. Catering and bar service are provided by Print Works Bistro, the hotel's award-winning restaurant, with customized seasonal menus available for every wedding. An in-house florist is also available for full floral design.
Five Event Spaces, One Remarkable Hotel
One of Proximity Hotel's greatest strengths for wedding photography is the variety of environments available within a single property. From the dramatic architecture of the Social Lobby to the garden-view light of the Weaver Room to the outdoor terraces, each space produces a distinctly different visual mood — giving your gallery genuine range across the day.

Ceremonies & cocktail hours
The Social Lobby
The hotel's signature gathering space — and one of the most architecturally striking ceremony environments in Greensboro. A dramatic winding spiral staircase, soaring columns, tall ceilings, and views of the Bluebell Garden create a backdrop that feels more like a European hotel lobby than a standard North Carolina event space. The staircase alone produces some of the most memorable portrait images we capture at any Greensboro venue. Ideal for ceremonies and cocktail hours with views of the garden below.

Up to 200 reception / 156 seated
The Weaver Room
The largest event space at the hotel — 2,600 square feet with 12-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and direct access to an outdoor terrace overlooking the Bluebell Garden and 2.5 acres of natural habitat. The quality of natural light in this room is exceptional: broad, soft, and consistent throughout the day. The room easily divides into a smaller second space and can operate as an open-air venue with operable windows. It is the go-to space for large receptions at Proximity and the room that most consistently produces the gallery's strongest images.
-
Up to 72 seated
The Revolution Room
Named after Greensboro's Revolution Mills, this stately room opens onto its own private outdoor terrace and is surrounded by 9x9 ft. operable windows that flood the space with natural light. The terrace creates a seamless indoor-outdoor flow ideal for cocktail hours and evening receptions. The room includes a wet bar, LCD projector, and projection screen and is perfectly suited for medium-sized ceremonies and seated dinners.
-
Up to 125 ceremony / 96 seated
The White Oak Room
Named after Greensboro's White Oak Plant, this airy room features 12-foot ceilings, 9-foot-tall windows, a private entrance, and views of a tranquil green garden. The natural light here is particularly clean and consistent — ideal for ceremony and reception coverage that requires minimal supplemental lighting. Wall-mounted televisions and excellent audio-visual capabilities make it practical as well as beautiful.

Luxury Getting Ready Suites
Proximity's spacious Proximity Suites are designed for exactly the kind of unhurried, light-filled morning that produces exceptional getting-ready photography. Early check-in is available, and the suites' open layouts, generous natural light, and sophisticated design create a genuinely beautiful environment for the bridal party to gather, prepare, and share the hours before the ceremony begins.
Why Photographers Love This Venue
Proximity Hotel is exceptional for wedding photography because it was designed by architects who cared deeply about natural light — not event planners trying to maximize floor space. The result is a building where every room has generous window coverage, high ceilings, and thoughtful proportions that make subjects look their best without any artificial intervention from a photographer.
The Weaver Room's floor-to-ceiling windows are among the best sources of natural ceremony light we work with anywhere in the Triad. The light is soft, broad, and directional — it wraps the couple at the altar beautifully from the side without the harshness you get from overhead lighting in a standard ballroom. Add the Bluebell Garden view through the glass and you have a backdrop that simply cannot be replicated at any other Greensboro venue.
— Brian Anthony Photography on shooting at Proximity HotelThe Social Lobby's spiral staircase deserves special mention. It is one of the most naturally photogenic architectural features at any wedding venue in the region — a sweeping, cinematic structure that creates portrait opportunities before, during, and after the ceremony. Couples who use the staircase for portraits consistently end up with images that stand out from every other photo in their gallery.
Outside, the Bluebell Garden and surrounding natural habitat provide lush, privately maintained portrait settings that feel completely removed from the hotel environment — open green space, mature plantings, and the kind of soft diffused outdoor light that flatters subjects at any time of day.
Best Photo Spots by Time of Day
Having photographed weddings across Greensboro's most sought-after venues, we know how to build timelines that protect the moments that matter at Proximity. Here's how we structure coverage across a Proximity Hotel wedding day:
Morning · Getting Ready
- Proximity Suite natural window light
- Bridal detail shots in suite interiors
- Hotel corridor & architectural details
- Garden path exterior portraits
Midday · Ceremony & First Look
- Social Lobby spiral staircase portraits
- Weaver Room window-lit ceremony
- Bluebell Garden first look
- Revolution Room terrace cocktail hour
Evening · Reception & Portraits
- Weaver Room floor-to-ceiling window light
- Outdoor terrace golden hour portraits
- Garden & natural habitat dusk portraits
- Hotel exterior architectural coverage
One of the practical advantages of a hotel venue is that portrait time is never lost to transit. The suites, the lobby, the garden, and the event rooms are all within a few minutes of each other — meaning we can move efficiently between environments throughout the day without pulling couples away from their guests for extended periods.

Luxury venues reward photographers who understand how to let the environment set the tone rather than imposing their own. Proximity Hotel is one of those venues where restraint and awareness produce better results than elaborate lighting setups — the building provides everything a photographer needs, and the job is to use it well.
With over 1,000 weddings photographed and filmed, our approach is rooted in documentary storytelling — capturing authentic moments as they naturally unfold, while also building the intentional portrait work that takes full advantage of what the venue offers. At Proximity, that means protecting time at the spiral staircase during cocktail hour, building the ceremony timeline around the Weaver Room's window light, and using the Bluebell Garden during golden hour for the portraits that tend to end up on walls.
For couples getting married at Proximity Hotel, we build a custom wedding day timeline around the specific spaces you're using, the light patterns in each room, and your guest count — so you get the most out of every environment without feeling rushed between them.
