Weekday Weddings: Yay or Nay?

In 2021 and beyond, expect to see an uptick in weekday weddings. When the entire world hit the pause button last spring, everyone (including the wedding industry) was thrown for a loop. Usually quiet weekends are now booked solid with rescheduled events and new events alike. To cope with this, people have been shifting their perspective to consider alternate date options, whether a weekday in the fall or even as far out as 2022 & 2023. One way that professionals and couples alike are coping is by delving into the world of weekday weddings.

Weekday weddings are a great option for some, and they’ve got a lot going for them, especially if you’re totally in love with your selected vendor team. By considering weekdays, you’re giving yourself a much higher chance that the majority of your vendor team will be available – the people you lovingly selected to take your vision and bring it to life.

With the lower competition for venues and vendors, you may also be able to add experiences and components that you had previously counted out due to budget or time concerns. Weekdays offer a ton of flexibility and savings, with some vendors even offering discounts for choosing an alternative date. There also tends to be more leeway in the timeline for the day, allowing a more leisurely pace.

Weekday weddings might also be a good fit for you if there is a specific, important date. So what if it falls on a Thursday? If it has a special meaning for you, it can be the “right” date, regardless of where it falls in the week. The most important factor? That you and your partner are getting married!

There are some considerations when planning your weekday wedding. For example, work and rush hour traffic may make it problematic for some guests to make it to an afternoon or early evening event, so you may want to consider an evening reception. The other option? Get married when you want and how you want, and the people that can be there will attend and those that can’t will send their love and thoughts as you start your married lives. This is an important note: you CANNOT please everyone, but you can select the time and date that works for you and your soon to be spouse.

One thing is certain: everyone is ready to dive into a happy occasion, regardless of what day it is.

Happy Wedding Planning!
