5 Reasons to Do Bridal Portraits

Here's Why You Should Say 'I Do' to Bridal Portraits

Bridal portraits are a long standing tradition in the south, with European roots. Although tradition is one reason to schedule your session, here are a few more:

1) Get a feel for your wedding day attire, accessories, hair, and makekup

Have a sneak peek at your completed look before the big day, and get the chance to consider any changes to your day of look. How will your makeup look in front of the camera? Is your hair ready for a closeup? Will you really make it for 10 hours in those heels? How exactly does one sit down in a mermaid dress anyway? A bridal portrait session can answer all of these questions. Think of this time as a practice session for your wedding where you can test out your planned look and make changes or alterations if necessary.

2) You'll have plenty of time - and much less stress!

Bridal portraits give you the chance to get some great pictures without having to worry about keeping to your wedding day timeline. Also, taking pictures in advance allows you to choose a location or time of day that would not necessarily be available to you on the day of your wedding. And weather? No worries, you can always reschedule to wait for ideal conditions. Having time and flexibility makes for a much more stress free experience.

3) Who doesn't want to get to know their photographer?

Like an engagement session, bridal portraits offer a terrific opportunity to see how well you and your photographer work together. You’ll be spending a lot of time with your photographer on wedding day, and getting in sync beforehand will help the process run more smoothly. Also, you can take this opportunity to more clearly define your vision for your wedding day with your photographer, and get a feeling for what works for you (and what doesn’t).

4) Show your creativity!

Incorporate pets, hobbies, favorite fandoms or locations – it’s entirely up to you! Bridal portraits offer an opportunity to express yourself. Talk with your photographer about ideas you would like to incorporate, and let your imagination run wild!

5) It's fun!

How often do you get to dress up in an amazing gown and have your picture taken? You spend so much time and money in pursuit of the perfect dress, and you shouldn’t only get to wear it once! You can even play with different hairstyles, veils, locations, and more -- this session is about you and you should enjoy every minute of it.
